Baseline ImPACT Testing

WESTBOROUGH, MA August 18, 2015 Early season baseline testing is recommended for athletes who are 10 years or older.  Many high schools in New England offer baseline testing and have contingencies in place for post injury testing. The MIAA now requires concussion education for all who are involved in MIAA sanctioned athletics – including parents and students. There is no better feeling than to have a quantifiable measure of an athlete’s baseline cognitive functioning.  The test is valid for 2-3 seasons.  Concussion results in several changes in thinking and behavior that may not be readily noticeable.  An athlete who is symptomatic is much more likely to be re-injured if he or she returns to the field of play prematurely. Careful planning is necessary to help the injured athlete back to school and then back to play.  Baseline testing is available using the link below.

There is a fee for taking the baseline test that is covered by many school athletic fees and/or by booster clubs.  Contact Dr. Sefton for access to the baseline testing and to set-up a program at your school soon.   Check out the ImPACT site for comprehensive look at the baseline test.
The baseline test is available for those who are not receiving the program at school.  Contact Dr. Sefton for an access code by calling 508-579-0417.  Take the on line baseline test.
